The next Audition to be held will be for The Touch of
Silk by Betty Roland and directed by David Goddard.
The date is Monday July 26th at 7.30pm, at the theatre - cnr
Bromley Avenue and Mona Vale Road, with call backs as required
on Monday 2nd August at 7.30pm.
The season will be October 6th - 30th.
Auditons requirements
A well prepared peice of some 3 minutes or so should be presented,
representing your best qualities but be careful, none of the
characters is ego driven, just natural and down to earth.
Apart from Jeanne (this actress must have a good French accent),
no accents are required especially no Strine - rough perhaps
and a little careless but still articulate. All the characters,
except Harry maybe, are reasonably well educated. However
Dr Wilson could be English and Mr Richie could be English
or even Jewish but because of the racial undertones in the
play and of the period no other accents must intrude.
A foreknowledge of the script is suggested as this will help
in reading selected scenes if required.
Photos and CVs will be required.
Rehearsals are scheduled to begin on Monday 2nd August and
rehearsals will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
evenings with some Saturdays if necessary.
Characters -
Miss Stella Patterson, 40 a millinery saleswoman,
a spinster "somewhat past her prime"
Clifford Osborne, 30 - 35 a drapery salesman,
with an easy charm "handsome in a rugged sort of way"

store, sharp, humourless, successful and knows it.
David Richie, 25ish, his son, bright easy
going, ambitious.
Mrs Ryan, 60 a country woman practical down
to earth comfortably settled, sharp tongued, no illusions
and no bitterness
Mrs Davidson, 55 a widow, bigoted, a possessive
mother, hard working
Jim Davidson, 30-35 her son, a farmer, gentle,
ambitious, very much in love with his wife, suffers from shell
shock.
Nelly Davidson, 20-25 his sister, pretty,
practical and very determined to marry David
Jeanne, 30 Jim's wife, a Frenchwoman (a good
French accent is necessary) think "a young Leslie Caron"
disillusioned and lonely but still very much in love with
her husband.
Dr Wilson, 60 the local general practitioner,
warm, caring, everyone's idea of the family doctor
